Jon Stewart actually had a decent observation on this:
"“Look man, Democrats made this case an example of why Americans should believe in our system,” Stewart said of those repeated promises, that left-wing media also pushed as a sign of superiority over the right.
“At every turn, Democrats keep getting caught creating a purity test for a system that they can’t seem to pass themselves,” he said.
“Rules, loopholes, and norms: The distance between the systems Democrats say they are revering and the one that they’re using when they need to is why people think it’s rigged,” he said."
Scott, this is an excellent take. I am suitably impressed. What did you think of Jean Pierre’s response to questions about the pardon? Given that Joe gave no real answers and Jill very little so after dropping that bomb, and after having sent her out there to lie about it repeatedly, they are also sending her out there to explain why it wasn’t really a lie, which is a very awkward dance and I know she gets paid but if I were her I’d be counting the days until I started writing my tell all revenge book.
Thanks! On Jean Pierre, being a spin doctor for a politician is always going to be tough, but rarely are you hung out to dry so obviously as she has been. Again, I think if she had any self-respect, she'd quit. I doubt doing so would hurt her future employment prospects much...in addition to being a progressive she also ticks all kinds of DEI boxes (woman, black, gay), so she is always going to have job opportunities on the left. Just look at what Jen Psaki has done since resigning as Biden's top spokesliar.
Scott, do you really think the media believed Biden when he said he would not pardon Hunter? I don’t.
What will be amusing to watch is Biden pardoning his entire family to “protect” them from a Trump politicized DOJ all while glad handing and smiling during the swearing in of the existential to democracy, Literally Hitler.
I am sure some of them did not, and were just regurgitating the required talking point. But you shouldn't underestimate the ability of progressives to genuinely convince themselves of even the most outrageous claims. When you are driven by emotion rather than reason, as leftists tend to be, there is almost nothing you won't believe, no matter how unhinged. We all know progressives who say and truly believe things that make us scratch our heads. Why would progressives in the media be any different?
